GVF was born in the 1980’s to create happiness, smiles, memories for children, big kids at heart and their families from all over the world. ‘Our piece of God’s Earth put to some wholesome pleasure’ has taken many years of hard work by our amazing parents and generations to follow. Not only as a business, but also as a family, we have overcome huge obstacles to keep Green Valley Farm still operating today.
We are asked regularly how we started Green Valley farm,
and more importantly, why we started Green Valley Farm,
especially in the middle of a paddock in the middle of nowhere. But you see it isn’t simply ‘nowhere’. It is our home and we would love to share our story with all of you that care so much and we hope people understand why our home is so important to us and worth every second we spend fighting for it.
Our parents Pat & Beryl Stewart bought us (their children, Michael, Irene, Gavin, Kathy & Stephanie) to GVF in 1972 to make a life on a sheep property. Ten years later, in 1982, our parents very much loved daughter and our adored sister Irene, passed away very suddenly just before her 16th birthday. Just before her passing she suggested that we open Green Valley Farm to the public to share the amazing life we had. The gardens at GVF were created as a memorial in memory of Irene & the rest is history!!! So with the help of amazing family and friends, GVF was created and has grown into the place it is today.
Our early childhood at GVF was nothing more than a house in the valley, an outside toilet, a big country backyard, an old woolshed and an ancient tank stand by the back door which was responsible for many hours of fun. From the very beginning, when we kids were still too young to be put to work, we have watched our Mum and Dad put everything they have into GVF. And nothing has changed even today. Us ‘kids’ are no longer kids and help in the family business , Yet Mum and Dad still refuse to rest. Everything they do, everything they say and a lot of what they know is inspired by Green Valley Farm. The truth is they are workaholics! If you know them you would agree. After so many years the only thing they haven’t achieved is a holiday! And chances are if they had to go on a holiday, they would spend the entire time wanting to go home or they would have their holiday here at home. Green Valley Farm means the world… No, Much more than the world to them. To see GVF bring so much happiness to so many people assures them that all they have worked for has been worth their while.
For many years we opened the doors to our home for free. All we asked was that people left only when they felt happy, and rejuvenated by the old fashioned fun and friendly atmosphere which we provided and continue to provide today. Back then this kind of fun was taken for granted. But today, the ugly world of litigation has become something we couldn’t ignore. As insurance premiums continued to rise year by year, we knew we couldn’t fight it any longer on our own. Unfortunately, much to our disappointment, GVF needed to introduce an entry fee to cover our insurance costs. Running the park off of the backs of our sheep was no longer viable. A fee of $2.00 per person was in place for several years. Sadly so many people have rapidly adopted a ‘If I don’t see it and I trip/hurt myself on it, I will sue you for putting it there’ attitude that our entry has had to go up over the years to cover huge insurance premiums each month to keep GVF operating today.
Green Valley Farm soon became home to our partners and our children who are very keen to keep the dream alive. Along with them, came extra help which has kept GVF growing. Accommodation was introduced allowing people to experience the country in the fullest. From the sound of the crickets and the warmth of a campfire to the brightness of millions of stars unchallenged by street lights or skyscrapers! Our water park has grown with the addition of a great toddler’s pool for everyone to enjoy and new pieces of playground equipment have been added.
Sadly in 2010, our unpredictable, amazing brother and Mum & Dad’s much loved youngest son Gavin died from a massive heart attack when he was just 34. It was a huge loss for all of the Green Valley Farm family & friends. He left behind a beautiful wife & 3 amazing children who play a huge part in GVF's life :) A plaque for Gavin has been placed beside Irene’s plaque in the original garden area of GVF and we know that they are both watching and helping from above.
AND we want to thank the people that come back time & time again to support us because without you, Green Valley Farm would not be here today....

The sudden loss of Pat Stewart is a huge loss to Green Valley Farm & to so many family & friends :( The people that visit Green Valley Farm are not only our guests, but our family, too. Many, who come, return on a first name basis. Countless people come to our gates and ask if Pat is around for a chat. Along with his wife, Pat Stewart is Green Valley Farm's founder, its owner and its heart and soul. Everything here came from his hands. He built Green Valley Farm from nothing, and found great joy in seeing the smiles and memories that were built inside his home. On top of this, Pat is our Husband, our Father, our Grandfather and our Great-Grandfather AND an incredible man
Pat Stewart passed away on Friday the 20th of March, 2020. He has been placed to rest in Green Valley Farms Cemetery here on the property; he overlooks the Valley & is keeping a close eye on us all …
Just as it will be for Pat's spirit, and his legacy, the show will go on at Green Valley Farm. We will remain open to welcome anyone into our home, with open arms for as long as we can & continue to do Pat Stewart proud of all he has achieved…
Thank you for your support!
